Our friend Kit is the expert on all things preparedness for kids. He doesn’t like to be scared, so he stays prepared!
Kit will join his friends and help you explore how to prepare for the most common hazards in our area, make a preparedness plan, and build an emergency kit.
Parker the park ranger knows all about the outdoors, especially about how to stay safe in the outdoors. He’s also great at helping people to search for lost and wandering loved ones.
Sarah is part of a swift water rescue team, and helps rescue those stranded by floodwaters. She’s an expert on preparing for floods and water safety!
Mindy is a meteorologist who keeps an eye on the weather. She works to teach kids everything they need to know about incoming severe weather.
Sam is an intern, and works with Mindy to understand weather patterns. This bird sure loves summer weather, and knows all the details on extreme heat and droughts.
Camila works for the county’s Public Works department, and her job is to help salt the roads to keep them safe when there is snow and ice on ground. She loves talking about winter weather! She also knows a lot about road safety and infrastructure incidents.
Elton is a volunteer firefighter! He responds to all types of emergency calls, and knows a whole lot about hazardous material releases and fire safety.
Dr. Kat is an expert in illness prevention, first aid, and medical emergencies. She is also great at helping those with disabilities figure out how to make a plan for emergencies.
Lizzie a geologist, and she thinks it rocks to teach kids about earthquakes and geologic hazards.
