Announcements:
Cardboard Recycling Announcement
Effective August 4th 2025: Williamson County Solid Waste will only accept cardboard as sorted recycling.
Residents are able to recycle cardboard at all Convenience Center locations by placing clean cardboard in the designated cardboard container.
Williamson County Solid Waste will no longer accept cardboard as Trash and/or Construction and Demolition waste.
Williamson County Solid Waste will continue to collect Cardboard as a recyclable material.
The Williamson County Material Recycling Facility is onsite (5760 Pinewood Rd 37064) next to the landfill. All clean cardboard will be accepted at the Material Recycling Facility (MRF) free of charge.
Clean Cardboard is defined as, cardboard that does not include any other material. No plastic, No paper, No packing materials, No insulation - just cardboard.
When delivering to any of the Williamson County Convenience Centers cardboard must be placed in the designated cardboard container. All cardboard should be broken down prior to arrival.
When delivering to any Williamson County Convenience Centers Cardboard can not be placed in the trash compactor or any open top containers.
All trash collected is delivered to our transfer station where it is compacted into trailers which we then pay for them to be disposed of at a licensed Class 1 landfill. When cardboard is included in these loads, it does not compact effectively and this results in the trailer being underweight when it is delivered. We are charged extra when we deliver light loads of garbage from our transfer station.
All construction and demolition waste is compacted and buried onsite at the Williamson County Landfill. If cardboard is delivered to our Demolition and Construction site it causes litter problems (in addition to paper and plastic).

Beginning April 1, 2024, Williamson County Solid Waste will no longer be accepting mattresses or box springs with trash disposal for free at any of the Williamson County Convenience Centers or the Landfill. On February 7, 2024, Solid Waste Regional Planning Board approved for Williamson County Solid Waste to no longer accept mattresses and box springs in an effort to preserve and extend the lifespan of the local landfill.
Commercial haulers should separate mattresses and box springs from their load. Haulers can recycle mattresses and box springs at the Landfill Convenience Center and should plan to pay the $20 disposal fee per item via credit or debit for any mattress or box spring in the load. Should a hauler refuse to cooperate, it could result in the company being banned for a determined amount of time at solid waste director’s discretion. We appreciate your collaboration to extend the Williamson County Landfill’s lifespan.
